Kate M. Lyon
completed the CFP® certification process in 2006. The process
included rigorous education, work experience, ethical requirements
and completion of the national CFP® certification examination all
overseen by the Certified Financial
Planner Board of Standards.
To
qualify to sit for the national comprehensive exam a professional is
required to complete five courses in five different financial
planning subject areas: trust and estate planning, investments,
insurance, taxation, and retirement planning. The national pass rate
for the exam in 2006 was 54%. Kate passed the exam on her first
attempt.
Documented, on-going education is required to maintain the
certification.
